when i recently discovered that the complete series of my so called life was a "watch instantly" option on netflix, i knew that the next couple weeks of my life would be consumed, consumed with the injustices of adolescence, the nostalgia of flannel and combat boots and likes and okays? and sweet catalano dreams. and they were, wholly. i know that many children of the nineties have sung their praises for the show and brought it to cult-worshiped status, but it was rightfully so. i don't believe there has been anything comparable since, at least on such a relatable level. re-watching all of the episodes as an adult was a strange experience; finding angela chase's melodramatic, hormonal revelations oddly poignant, even in my current state of mind. i suppose it just still blows my mind that claire danes was only fifteen yet still able to emote such depth. talk about an old soul. and ohh that crying chin tremble gets me every time. she remains one of my favorites.
sometimes someone says something really small, and it just fits right into this empty place in your heart.
