why oh why must fashion continue to exploit the most bewitching of animals? butterflies, the owl...i believe deer had a moment there, specifically with jewelry. antlers & feathers too, all be they mere accessories of animals themselves (no pun intended). then generally, the "put a bird on it" phenomenon (and i do admit i have a silk blouse with miniature swallows adorning it that i regrettably have an aversion to). and now the fox. oh dear, the fox. i remember the only time i had ever seen one growing up; i was driving on the darkened back roads of rural connecticut. i came to a hault to watch a stark white fox slowly cross my path. it looked at me. it was beautiful. but harper's bazaar has deemed foxes to be "the fashion fauna of the season." i'm sorry, but this sentence nauseates me. as much as i love the look of the deyrolle pour opening ceremony full-length dress seen here (retailing at $360.00), my heart pangs with a wee bit of sadness that another of the animal kingdom will now lose its sense of magic by being overly manipulated and beaten to a pulp, all in the name of fashion. all i can say now is pleaseplease don't take my bison from me!
